Salt Flats

Salt flats with the big sand mountain in the distance.

The surface is strange- a crust of salt on top, then mud and sand underneath. It cracks when you walk on it.

A big mountain of sand!

It was hard walking, but a fun run down!

Sand Mountain, Fallon, NV

Ruth Copper Mine, NV

It’s supposedly one of the largest mining pits in the world. We drove in and tried to get a view into the pit, but all we could see was the patchwork mountain of tailings. It’s definitely enormous!

The tailing colors actually make for a pretty view!

Welcome to Nevada!
