And then we were treated to a beautiful beach sunset.

After dinner the decided to play. They didn’t mind the cold water.

We caught a few glimpses of seals fishing in the waves. 

Dinner at Gold Beach

Both my morning gas station friends and Dan the clam man recommended the same dive bar for dinner- The Hunter Creek Tavern. Unfortunately when we got there it was over 21 only. Instead of leaving the kids in the car, we decided to get take out and go to the beach. The food was great (more fish and chips) and it was definitely our type of place. Good food and no tourists.

This is our kind of boat trip!

Mary D Hume Shipwreck

Built in the late 1800’s, this boat wore a lot of hats during it’s 97 year career. It was built here and also retired in Gold Beach. It was floating until recently when work on the boat made a hole in the bottom and it sunk.

That’s the Peterson bridge in the background. It was built in the 1930’s and was an engineering marvel due to it’s use of concrete and arches.

Gold Beach

A nice spot for lunch. It was a bit foggy when we got there, but the it cleared and it was a lovely place to relax and walk.

As always, the girls dug and played in the sand.

Otter Point

Another spot recommended by the locals. This is what much of the Oregon coast looks like. Massive cliffs with rock beaches below.
